FRANKLIN — A strong fourt-quarter scoring performance by Felicity helped the team to a 71-63 win over Blanchester Southern Buckeye Conference play on Friday.

Blanchester held a 50-46 lead after three quarters, but Tyler Utter netted 17 of his game-high 36 points to lead Felicity ahead of the Wildcats in the final stanza.

Felicity is now 8-8 on the season and 6-8 in the SBC. Blanchester falls to 4-12 on the season and 3-9 in league play.

“I thought we came out and played well in the first half. In the fourth quarter, we were in some foul trouble with A.J. Wiley and Bryson Lewis with four fouls and we have a very limited bench right now. We got a little fatigued and when we got tired I think we made some bad decisions and our rebounding wasn’t as good,” said BHS head coach Bennie Carroll. “To their (Felicity) credit, they hit some very difficult shots and knocked down a couple and hit a couple good layups. I think we just got a little tired. That caused us to make a few mistakes. We played pretty well… much better than last weekend. We did some good things, we just faltered a little bit down the stretch.”

In the end, Utter’s speed was too much for the Wildcats.

“We got behind midway through the fourth and we had to go man-to-man and he really hurt is then because of his speed.

I thought the kids gave a pretty good effort,” said Carroll.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter, and led 32-27 at the intermission.

Steven White stepped up to lead the Wildcats with 19 points in the effort, followed by Nash Ballinger with 17 and Donald Rinehimer with 11.

The BHS JV team fell 45-33.

For the ’Cats, Kyle Slocum had 12 points, Eric Cook had nine, Ty King had six, Drew Freeman had five and Gregory Lawson had one.

The Wildcat freshmen won 30-22.

BHS returns to action 7:30 p.m. next Friday at home against Batavia.
