BLANCHESTER — The bats came alive for the Blanchester High School baseball team on Wednesday, defeating Georgetown 19-5 in Southern Buckeye Conference action. BHS smacked 15 hits in five innings — eight of which were for extra bases. The win brings the Wildcats to 7-14 on the season and 3-7 in the league. “We finally hit the ball pretty well. The first time we played we scrambled to beat them. Tonight, we hit the cover off the ball. Everybody contributed in one way or another,” said BHS head coach Eddie Pagett. “It was probably our best hitting game of the year. We are getting better each game. We should have beat Batavia on Monday. “We’re only 7-14, but I am seeing progress. Hopefully we can win a couple more games this week and get ready for tournament. Hopefully we’re on the right track.” Andrew Freeman led the BHS offense with four hits — three of which were doubles — four RBI and three runs. Also, A.J. Wiley had a single, double and triple to go along with three RBI and two runs. Rylan St. John earned the win on the mound throwing five innings, scattering six hits and striking out five. BHS returns to action today when the team hosts Williamsburg.
