Anna’s Gehret sets mark in high jump PDF Print E-mail

INDIAN LAKE — Anna traveled to Indian Lake for a dual track meet, the boys winning 81-59 and the girls losing 70-65.

Highlighting the meet for Anna was the performance of Laura Gehret in the high jump. She cleared 5-feet, 7-inches to set a new school record, breaking her own mark of 5-6.

Anna had five first-place finishes. In addition to Gehret in the high jump, Maria Meyer won the 100 hurdles in 17.8, Cassie Christman won the 300 hurdles in 51.3, Sarah Bruce won the 200 dash in 28.5, and the 400 relay team won in 53-flat.

For the boys, there were 10 first places.

Derrick Lillard was in on four of them, winning the 800 in 2:15.6, the 1600 in 5:27, the 3200 in 11:22.9 and running on the winning 3200 relay team, which ran a 10:35.

Kameron Knight won the 100 in 11.8 and the 200 in 23.5, Cameron Dennis won the 400 in 54.5, and the Rockets won all four relays.

They ran a 45.4 in the 400, 1:35.4 in the 800, 3:47 in the 1600 and 10:35 in the 3200.

Sidney at Xenia

Sidney competed in the Xenia Invitational on Wednesday night.

For the boys, Jordan Goffena won the 110 hurdles in a meet record time of 14.9. Matt Kennedy won the 400 in 52.65, and the 400 relay team of Antwon Thomas, Jack Foy, Kennedy and Goffena ran a 44.58 to place first.

Foy also won the long jump, going 19-111/2, the best in the area so far this season.

For the girls, Molly Schriber had the best finish, a second in the discus at 93 feet.
